LIMITED SEATS
This Career Development Session focuses on practical strategies for publishing, dissemination beyond academic papers, and building wider impact. Prof Greg Wegener, Editor-in-Chief of IJNP, will share tips for publishing in reputable journals and improving the chances of a successful submission through appropriate journal selection and a clear, well-structured pitch to editors. Dr Riccardo De Giorgi, will cover post-publication dissemination approaches including journal clubs, podcasts, and short commentary formats, and will outline how early-career involvement in peer review and editorial activities can strengthen academic networks and transferable skills. Prof Hilary Blumberg will discuss how to communicate the significance and future potential of a research programme to funders, employers, and awarding bodies, with an emphasis on presenting outputs, contributions, and leadership. The session will conclude with an open Q&A to discuss common challenges such as translating findings for different audiences, selecting dissemination channels, and documenting impact beyond citation metrics.
