Spotlight Session 5:
The Way Forward: Major Significant Collaboration (Joint meeting with the leadership of WFSBP, WPA, ECNP, and CINP)
Background:
Effective advancement of psychiatric practice on a global scale requires coordinated efforts among leading international professional associations. Currently, three major intercontinental organizations play a central role in shaping research, clinical standards, and education in psychiatry and neuropsychopharmacology: the International College of Neuropsychopharmacology (CINP), the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), and the World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry (WFSBP). In addition, continental organizations such as the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP) contribute substantially to scientific dissemination, professional development, and policy shaping. Despite shared aims, formalized cross-organizational collaboration remains limited, resulting in parallel—rather than synergistic—efforts. Strengthened strategic alignment may enhance the dissemination, cultural adaptability, and clinical relevance of global psychiatric initiatives.
Aim:
This symposium aims to bring together leadership representatives of ECNP, CINP, WFSBP, and WPA to discuss structured collaboration mechanisms that can support the development and implementation of innovative, culturally sensitive, and precision-oriented clinical frameworks in psychiatry.
Methods and Structure:
The session will include a series of brief leadership presentations followed by an expert panel.

Results and Expected Outcomes:
This collaborative platform aims to harmonize methodological approaches, enhance the reach of clinical tools and educational resources, and encourage unified messaging across organizations. Importantly, each organization maintains its identity and added value while contributing to a shared strategic direction.
Discussion and Conclusion:
The session highlights a novel and unprecedented cooperative model among major psychiatric associations. Establishing an ongoing, structured framework for inter-organizational collaboration may improve the coherence, cultural relevance, and clinical utility of global psychiatric recommendations. Continued cross-association partnership is expected to strengthen the impact of psychiatric practice worldwide and support the translation of innovation into real-world clinical benefit.
